The Benefit Cap is a limit to the total amount of money you can get from benefits. However this will only affect you, if you receive either Universal Credit or Housing Benefit. If you receive over the limit which applies to your circumstances, you will as a result get less Universal Credit or Housing Benefit.
If you are in a couple, or have children the benefit cap limit is £384.62 a week
If you are a single person, the benefit cap limit is £257.69.
