Tenant responsibilities and information
It is the tenants responsibility to look after their garden (or balcony if they have one). The tenant must keep their garden clean and tidy and free from rubbish. This includes things like mechanical parts, furniture etc.
If you have a tree in your garden, you must not destroy or remove it, or remove any branches from it without written permission. We will normally ask a Tree Officer from BCP to inspect it, and advise us of any work that needs doing to it. We usually pay for work recommended by the Tree Officer.
Garden maintenance scheme for elderly or disabled tenants
The Council's Conditions of Tenancy place on tenants the responsibility for keeping the garden areas cultivated and tidy.
If you are elderly or registered disabled and find it difficult to look after your garden yourself, we may be able to offer some one-off assistance. Please contact your Housing Officer who will be able to give you more information.
Poole Housing Partnership and Roots have been working together to pilot a gardening scheme for residents who have difficulty in maintaining their garden. We are delighted to have such positive feedback from the residents who used the service. We now promote the service to PHP residents who may wish to use Roots as a tried and trusted gardening service.
To find out more about Roots please see the related document on the right. To get in touch with the service please see details below.
