The construction of new extra care apartments on Rossmore Road in Poole is continuing to move forward, with the development on schedule to welcome its first residents in summer 2016.
A 28.5m high crane has become a feature of the local skyline as work continues on the block of 54 apartments with communal facilities. Once complete, Trinidad Village will provide much-needed extra care housing in Poole, as well as becoming a focal point for the Rossmore community. This exciting development is a joint project between Borough of Poole, PHP and the Homes & Communities Agency.
Local ward councillors paid a visit to the site to check on progress and learn more about the plans, which include a central courtyard with seating areas, landscaped gardens and terraces which will provide a relaxing environment for residents to enjoy. Residents and the local community will also benefit from brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, including a restaurant and hairdressing salon.
Cllr Graham Wilson, Ward Member for Newtown, Borough of Poole, said: “It’s great to see work continuing to move on at the site. The development will not only provide housing for some of our vulnerable residents, but also facilities that everyone in the local community can enjoy. It’s positive for residents of both Trinidad House and the local area to see the building grow, and we look forward to seeing things develop further over the coming months."
PHP is now beginning the search for catering and hairdressing providers to be based in the new building. The finished restaurant will serve 54 extra care apartments, 90 sheltered housing properties and the wider community, with additional scope to provide catering for other extra care schemes within Poole, as well as offering a meal delivery service locally. Residents of both Trinidad House and Trinidad Village will be able to take advantage of the on-site hairdressers, which will also welcome customers from the wider local community.
