Poole Housing Partnership always strives to put residents in the driving seat, to ensure the company understands the needs of residents and makes those needs the main focus.

We are looking for someone to join other residents on the Company’s Board of Directors, to help ensure PHP stays focused on improving services for all tenants and leaseholders.

This opportunity is open to any tenant or leaseholder who lives in a PHP managed property.

The Board

The Board of Directors comprises a Chair and:

  • 2 Tenants/Leaseholders
  • 2 Council Nominees
  • 5 Independent Members
  • The role of the Board is to:
  • Ensure the organisation delivers excellent services
  • Provide leadership and long-term vision
  • Scrutinise the effectiveness of PHP
  • Monitor the performance of PHP
  • Agree the Annual Delivery Plan with BCP Council
  • Approve the budgets
  • Agree policies and make decisions on financial matters
  • Ensure that PHP is run lawfully and ethically
  • Most importantly, deliver quality homes in strong communities

The Role

The position requires attendance at six evening meetings and up to two training days per year.

Directors work on a voluntary basis, so are not paid for membership or attendance at meetings. However, any out-of-pocket expenses are reimbursed. Directors benefit from a comprehensive training and development programme.

The Candidate

The ideal candidate will have a real interest in the local community, and will be able to bring their enthusiasm and experience of living in a PHP managed property. Experience of working with community groups would be helpful, but no previous experience is required as full training will be given.

The Process

Candidates will be asked to complete a short application form setting out why they would like to join the Board. A CV would be useful, but is not a requirement.

Interested candidates will then be invited to attend an open morning on Thursday 15th August to learn more about the role and the organisation. Candidates will then be shortlisted, and subsequently interviewed by a panel made up of the Chief Executive, Chair of the Board and Chair of the Tenant Involvement and Engagement Panel.

The successful candidate will be co-opted onto the Board from September, and formally appointed at the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 27th November.
