PHP’s Discover Sheltered Living open event has come to a close after the public enjoyed free tours, information and refreshments at schemes across Poole.
Current residents at Creekmoor, Oakdale and Parkstone allowed visitors to look around their accommodation, while members of staff were on hand to answer questions and show people the communal areas and gardens.
We were also joined by a host of local partners, including Borough of Poole, Age Concern and Poole’s Safer Neighbourhood Teams, who provided help and advice about support available to older residents.
PHP runs over 30 sheltered schemes across Poole, offering purpose-built accommodation for people aged 55 years and over. The mixture of flats and bungalows enable independent living in a safe and secure environment with the support of a dedicated sheltered housing officer.
The majority of PHP’s schemes benefit from communal lounges and gardens which regularly provide the location for a packed programme of social activities, ranging from coffee mornings and lunch clubs, to bingo nights, parties, and even Nintendo Wii championships!
“The event becomes more and more popular every year,” reported Housing Locality Manager Karen Rees, who organised Discover Sheltered Living. “Thank you to everyone who supported the open days – we hope you found your visit useful.”
