We were delighted to welcome an educational dance show to PHP’s community gardens to teach children about the ground beneath their feet.
Produced by Second Hand Dance in association with the Unicorn Theatre, ‘Grass’ is a show which is designed to teach children about all the amazing creatures that go unnoticed in day-to-day life, using dance and music.
The show featured two performers acting as a range of different insects in comical (but factual) sketches. The production was supported by the Arts Council England and presented by the Borough of Poole Arts Service, with PHP.
Drawing a crowd of over 80 people during three weekend performances, the production was a big success. Chris Wilson, Char of Poole Town Community Garden, said: “It was absolutely fantastic” and Dom Kippin from Poole Arts Service said: “It was great to perform in an outdoor space.”
‘Grass’ is planning to go on tour around the UK in late August, finishing at the Unicorn Theatre in London. In the meantime, PHP and Poole Arts Service look forward to a bright future together working on a diverse range of new and exciting projects.
