The Borough of Poole will be running Bikeability cycle training courses during the Easter holiday for children in the Turlin Moor area. Sessions as follows:
- Thursday 20 April – one session in the morning and one in the afternoon
- Friday 21 April – one session in the morning and one in the afternoon
All sessions will need to be attended to pass the course.
Level 1 teaches trainees to learn to control and master a bike. The training takes place in an environment away from cars or traffic, usually in a playground or closed car park.
Level 2 is delivered on local roads giving trainees real cycling experience that equips them with skills to deal with traffic on short journeys such as cycling to school or the local shops.
Any child attending will need a roadworthy bike and a fitting bike helmet. They will also need to be able to ride their bike confidently without wobbling before the course, to be able to quickly learn making hand signals and looking behind. Children who do not reach the required level by the first session will not be able to progress onto the road.
If you would like your child to attend, please book their place by contacting Peter Wickett on 01202 262066 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org
Please book early to avoid disappointment.
A letter will shortly be going out to all parents in the Turlin Moor area, so once your place has been confirmed, please read and sign the consent slip on the back and bring it with you on the first day. It is essential that you also provide your telephone number so that you can be contacted in case of bad weather or in an emergency. Unfortunately, children without a completed consent form cannot take part in the training.
