How much notice do I need to give to end my tenancy?

The tenancy agreement states that 4 weeks notice is required. It is always useful though to let us know as soon as a decision has been made to end the tenancy, rather that leaving it to the last minute. That way we can advise on what is required of the tenant and make sure that the property is accurately advertised.

Do I have to clear the property or can I leave carpets and curtains?

We always recommend that the property is fully cleared, and return to us in an excellent clean condition. We appreciate that it is not easy to remove carpets, so we would advise that a pre-void visit be made by the Voids Officer so that she can see the carpets and make a decision as to whether they can remain in the property. Please bear in mind that if you leave anything in the property then you take the risk of being recharged for the removal of the items.

It is not my property I am just the next of kin and don't have the time or funds to clear the property what can I do?

We would advise that you first try and use a house clearance firm. You will need to shop around to find the best deal. If the cost of doing this is a problem then please fill in an indemnity form and hand it in along with the house keys to the Voids Team. The cost of clearing the property will be recharged to the Tenant. If the Tenant is deceased then it will be charged to the estate.

Where do I hand in my keys?

Keys should always be handed in at Beech House. 28 - 30 Wimborne Road, Poole. The exception to this is keys from Belmont Court. They should be returned to the Sheltered Housing Officer.

Will the locks get changed?

Yes. We now change all the locks.

I have recently moved into the property which has some outstanding repairs. Who do I report it to?

Please report this to the Voids Team. Always leave your name and contact telephone number so that the contractor can phone you direct to make an appointment.
