Neighbourhood improvements

Neighbourhood improvements

Neighbourhood Improvement Schemes are schemes that benefit a community and are identified in conjunction with the Housing Team.

Such schemes often involve capital investment and would be subject to local consultation with PHP residents to ensure they are focussed on what the community seeks to achieve.

Neighbourhood Improvements for Communities and Estates (NICE Scheme)

PHP know that many tenants and leaseholders across Poole want to be directly involved in helping to improve their neighbourhoods. To help and encourage this, we have developed the NICE Scheme.

Through the NICE Scheme, tenants and leaseholders can apply directly to us for funding to carry out improvements in their communities. Each year we set aside £18,000 from the Estates Budget for NICE applications and tenants and leaseholders can apply for a maximum of £3,000 per application to carry out improvements.

All improvements done via the NICE Scheme will be made on housing land, therefore they become the property of the Council.

Examples of the types of improvements that will be considered under the NICE scheme are:

  • Benches

  • Seating areas

  • Improvements to security and lighting

  • Improving communal gardens/open spaces

You can apply online here, or print out and fill in the attached PDF and send to d.sparks@poole.gov.uk

For further information, please see the NICE Scheme Guide in the Related Documents panel, or call 0800 652 3900 and ask to speak to a member of the Resident Involvement Team.
