Preparing yourself for work

Bridge2Work is a programme designed to meet your individual needs and help you prepare for work. The programme aims to help you find a job that suits your needs and abilities and provides ongoing support even after you've started work.

The help offered can include:

  • Building confidence and motivation.
  • Funding a wide range of back to work expenses.
  • Training in writing CVs and job applications.
  • Improving your interview techniques.
  • Putting you in touch with relevant training courses and useful organisations.
  • Advice on the local labour market.

Bridge2Work has now engaged and supported over 180 people across Bournemouth and Poole. These people are now experiencing new jobs, voluntary placements or attending courses to start them off in the right direction. 20 people are now in work that suits their lifestyle.

The project management are very proud of the success of the people recruited and to be able to support each individual into their life changing experience.

The Bridge2work programme is developing well and this FREE service includes information, advice and guidance, one to one job coaching, and/or a 6-10 week course to support individuals in returning to work.

The Bridge2work team has consulted with the local community to design the course, which has then been tailored to individual's needs. A custom course has recently been held for a Black Minority Ethnic group, which was a great success. Clients from the course are now applying for various jobs in all areas of work including childminding, care, translation, administration and driving.

Bridge2work has developed good working partnerships with both big and small local businesses, ensuring all clients are supported into work. We can now refer people to Skills4Jobs once they have overcome any barriers to returning to work. Skills4Jobs can help individuals in gaining free qualifications and arranging relevant work trials.
