Disabled Adaptations- Further Advice
Advice on other solutions available and what you can do if you are not happy with how your request has been dealt with.
If you are having difficulty settling into your home or enjoying its facilities there are other options you can consider:
- Moving to another area
- Moving to a smaller home (a grant might be available to help you do this)
- Moving to another property which already has an adaptation
- Arranging a mutual exchange with someone whose accommodation is suitable
You may also be able to obtain advice or assistance from other agencies.

What can I do if I am not happy with how my request has been dealt with?
If you are unhappy with the priority given to your recommendation and you think this is a risk to your ability to lead an independent life, you should contact either the Adult Social Services Unit Helpdesk or the Child Health and Disability Team Helpdesk, see the contact details to the right of this page.
Usually another assessment will not be made within 6 months of the initial assessment unless your medical condition has seriously deteriorated.
If you are unhappy about the length of time waiting, or the quality of the adaptation, you should contact us, see the contact details to the right of this page.
If I move home to another council property will you carry out adaptations at that property?
Transferring to another council property might be an ideal solution to meeting your needs. We will try to find a property which has already been adapted and is suitable for your needs.
